This 'threat' was sent by an anonymous coward who feared signing their own name.

Why is the HomeEquity Bank, an asset of the Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan (OTPP), valued at more than $247.5B, working with loan shark mortgage brokers who prey on seniors and veterans, while draining the resources of local charities, and why are they afraid to challenge the evidence and allegations of a small not-for-profit?

Mainstream Media Checking All Angles As Provincial War On Homeless Heats Up

Premier Doug Ford's misguided and cruel war on the homeless of Ontario is catching a lot of attention from mainstream media. This is also true of Alex Nuttall, the disgraced former Conservative Member of Parliament and now Mayor of Barrie, who wrote the letter asking Ford to misuse the Notwithstanding Clause so he could bypass the rights of those suffering in the homeless community, who are protected as to 'life, liberty, and security of the person' under Section 7 of the Charter of Rights and Freedoms, and also bypass the January 27, 2023 ruling of Justice Michael J Valente, SUPERIOR COURT OF JUSTICE - COURT FILE NO.: CV-22-717. We are on the front lines and catching a lot of interest.

In addition to the production of this documentary about mortgage fraud, as committed by the brokers of Verico the Mortgage Station, and covered for by Verico Financial Group Inc. and HomeEquity Bank, we are reporting regularly about the utterly unconscionable actions of the provincial government, and the minority of Ontario Mayors who have chosen to goosestep over the rights of the poor, rather than correct the crisis that they have collectively created through rent deregulations and the virtual elimination of mental health and addiction services.

The issue is very relevant to our documentary, as mortgage and lender fraud are a leading cause of homelessness, and seniors are the fastest growing sector of the unsheltered population in Canada.

Our not-for-profit media service, Five Points Media, is a social enterprise that works to improve and promote charities, not-for-profits, and benevolent community groups. We have done this for more than ten years, during which we have donated more than $700,000.00 in services to those in the greatest of need. The issue of homelessness has always been an issue of concern to us, as can be seen in the videos we have produced during that time. Below are some examples, and there are others.

  2. April 23, 2017: SY-STEM Links Promo Video

We use social media to reach tens of thousands of people and promote humane alternatives to abuses of authority, and our message is being heard loud and clear by politicians and mainstream media.

During just the past month, we have engaged dozens of times to assist directly those in the greatest of need, who have nothing to give back, and nothing to offer as payment for our assistance.

  1. November 18, 2024: We started a drive to inspire donations of clothing, tents, sleeping bags, and other necessities of life for the homeless community, resulting in dozens of deliveries of hundreds of items.
  2. November 18, 2024: We donated the use of our studio for storage and organizing of donations for distribution to those in need.
  3. November 18. 2024: We boldly responded to the Charter violations being used unlawfully against the homeless community by Mayor Alex Nuttall, by reposting the address of his new home, and suggesting he might rent a room to one of the people he was unlawfully evicting from encampments, or perhaps allow the homeless to use one of his four bathrooms, as he was blocking porta-potties being provided to the human beings in encampments.
  4. November 19, 2024: We posted a plea for plastic tubs for people who were being forcibly evicted from a well-established encampment that had been permitted to remain on private land for many months, until the City of Barrie is reported to have pressured the landowner to comply with their doctrine of zero accountability. We received more than enough tubs to successfully move the refugees of this attack.
  5. November 20, 2024: We posted the truth, through photographic documentation, about a park that the City of Barrie is claiming is closed, but which was in truth only blocked to advocates for the homeless community, and media they could not control.
  6. November 21, 2024: We posted a personal video call out seeking the use of a trailer or van to help a group of unsheltered people who were being forcibly evicted by police. We were successful, drawing the help of a man with a trailer and a fellow advocate with a commercial sized van.
  7. November 22, 2024: We told the story of a senior couple who were homeless due to personal injuries that inhibited them from crawling out of the hole of extreme poverty. The story drew considerable attention from both the public and government services, and it started the stalled wheels moving toward housing. The couple was quickly assigned shelter in a motel pending the availability of proper housing where the rent would be geared to income.
  8. November 22, 2024: We physically assisted residents of an encampment to move their belongings from a site they had been living at for several months, and we assisted them by allowing them to store their property on the grounds of our studio for as long as they needed.
  9. November 22, 2024: We posted the heart-touching story of how the children of a local woman had been so moved by our story about the senior couple that they offered to donate their allowance to help their mother make a shepherd's pie or pasta dish for them.
  10. November 24, 2024: We assisted with a celebration of life for a member of the homeless community, who had been denied a service by various church-based organizations that count on the City of Barrie for support.
  11. November 25, 2024: We posted how our advocacy in support of the homeless community had dramatically increased our audience and reach, which enable us to advocate for those who are living unsheltered.
  12. November 26, 2924: We posted how the truth and evidence presented in our reporting had caused the local publicly funded shelter to break ranks with the City of Barrie's Draconian approach to treatment of the unsheltered community.
  13. November 26, 2024: We reported how we had opened our studio to several people who had been evicted from the encampment that was located on private property, and that we had provided them respite, warmth, and food while they considered their next steps.
  14. November 27, 2024: We posted how we are now working on an in-depth documentary to expose the 'life choices' made by Barrie's Mayor, Alex Nuttall, including why he was abandoned, and asked to withdraw as a candidate, by his own nomination committee while running for federal office.
  15. November 28, 2024: We posted how our producer was asked by officers of the Barrie Police Service to meet at an encampment to assist in negotiating the removal of a homeless man who is known to us as advocates, who suffers from significant mental health issues.

That list represents just ten days of our volunteer advocacy in support of our community with the remainder being available at https://www.facebook.com/FivePointsMedia In a letter to a prospective client who withdrew from hiring the services of Verico the Mortgage Station, David Flude, the Principal Broker and presumed owner, defamed our Producer by claiming he was a 'serial agitator' when referencing our community work. We must ask if that is what the Barrie Police Service thought when they called us and asked for assistance in the negotiations with a mentally unstable homeless man. Also, is that likely the term used by the refugees we welcomed into our studio and our Producer's home when they had nowhere else to go? Is that what is thought of us by the growing list of thousands of people who follow our work every day?

Given the level of our involvement of helping the homeless within the community at the centre of the Doug Ford and Alex Nuttall abuse of the Notwithstanding Clause, it is little wonder that we are attracting so much attention from mainstream media, who are finding and reviewing this associated story.

Very few people would see the 'logic' of airing so much dirty laundry in a cyclone of media attention, but that has been the choice of the brokers of Verico the Mortgage Station, and their apparently former or at least distant collaborators at Verico Financial Group Inc. and HomeEquity Bank, each of which has declined to meet, to be interviewed, to refute our claims, or to present any counter evidence to disprove our allegations. They have also each refused to file civil action, despite a vacuous threat to do so close to a year ago, and they have not contested a single assertion made by us about them.

Most people would agree that this behaviour is very strange for multi-million and multi-billion-dollar corporations that count on their reputation to do business, especially as we are a small social enterprise.

All across Ontario, the issue of homelessness is a hot topic of debate, as our Premier, Doug Ford, has tabled legislation to permit him to abuse the Notwithstanding Clause so he can set aside Section 7 of the Charter of Rights and Freedoms, and also the January 27, 2023, ruling of Justice Michael J Valente, Superior Court of Justice, a true copy of which can be downloaded from our file server.

During the past month, we have invested considerable time to help our local homeless community, but we are now enjoying some calm before the oncoming storm, and we are back to researching and reporting this story.
