Truth, Evidence, and A Crystal Ball Called Data Analysis
In June 0f 2022, now more than two years ago, David Flude, the Principal Broker and presumed owner of Verico the Mortgage Station decided to ignore the indictable offence of usury, also known as loan sharking, that was committed by his broker, Renee Dadswell, with the assistance of her colleague Lisa Purchase.
David Flude has never denied the crime occurred, nor has he ever defended himself or his brokers against our allegations of committing this indictable offence.
Instead, he lied six times in two emails (1) (2) to evade investigation by the Financial Services Regulatory Authority of Ontario (FSRA), then hid for 18 months to evade having to answer for their actions, then 'motivated' an officer of the local South Simcoe Police Service to omit evidence and falsify calculations, and then 'threatened' our producer and specifically our twenty-something-year-old interns and apprentices with an unscrupulous Strategic Litigation Against Public Participation (SLAPP) lawsuit through a lame, legally unsupported, do-it-yourself allegation of libel that our evidence-backed rebuttal was sufficient to cause the anonymous writer representing the interests of the multi-million and multi-billion-dollar corporations to lose the courage needed to file the claim in any court throughout the past two hundred and seventy-seven days.
We are not claiming to be the Amazing Kreskin, but we have accurately predicted much of what has happened since David Flude made that series of ill-fated decisions.
From the moment of that first criminal and ethical breach of public trust, David Flude, for totally selfish reasons, set his business, the careers of his brokers and agents, and the reputations of his allies at Verico Financial Group Inc. and HomeEquity Bank on a one-way road to self-destruction and lost opportunities. He was offered multiple opportunities to meet to rectify his mistakes and those of his brokers, but he chose instead to succumb to the weakness of pride, becoming a laughingstock for his industry, and now he is losing staff, turning offices into rental units for cashflow, and selling the newly built, customized building from which he runs the rapidly diminishing Verico the Mortgage Station.
We must wonder if David Flude still thinks coveting that few hundred dollars stolen by loan sharking two years ago was really worth the arrogance he has demonstrated ever since being caught by his client.
Nobody could have predicted that the Presidents and CEOs of Verico Financial Group Inc. and HomeEquity Bank would have been so frankly stupid as to support the criminal actions of the brokers of Verico the Mortgage Station, especially as they were both provided with irrefutable evidence supporting the fact that Renee Dadswell charged a staggering 198.25% in interest and fees on short term bridge financing, which is an indictable offence under section 347 of the Criminal Code of Canada, subject upon conviction to a five year term in prison.
Both Verico Financial Group Inc. and HomeEquity Bank had a legal and ethical obligation to intervene but chose profit over professional accountability and looked the other way to protect their loan sharking friends.
We did predict a few things based on our experience exposing this kind of criminal and ethical abuse of trust, not limited to but including:
- That, despite the David and Goliath size and asset differential of multi-million and multi-billion-dollar corporations against a small, not-for-profit, social enterprise that donates all services to local charities, not-for-profits, and benevolent community groups, the second we received their huff, puff, and bluff threat to sue us if we did not stop telling the truth, we knew they would never file court action because the evidence they know we have proves we are tell the truth, that they have acted corruptly and in a criminal fashion, with their intent being to defraud a senior and veteran and then conceal the crimes. They also know that we understand the true purpose and intent of Strategic Litigation Against Public Participation (SLAPP) lawsuit, and how to defeat it as we have done before.
- That, the public, who ultimately finance all three of the corrupt corporations, would see the truth of our reporting, and the lack of action on the parts of Verico the Mortgage Station, Verico Financial Group Inc., and HomeEquity Bank, and that in the end, their concern for seniors and veterans being defrauded would compel these potential clients, in their own best interests, to go somewhere else for the services provided by Verico the Mortgage Station, Verico Financial Group Inc., and HomeEquity Bank.
- That, ultimately the companies that protected each other would turn on each other in their own best interests, and that Verico the Mortgage Station would be stripped of all public association with Verico Financial Group Inc. and HomeEquity Bank.
- That, the brokers would turn on each other, seeking a scapegoat for all of their troubles, and that other agents and brokers, who do not want their name associated with the loan sharking brokerage, would bail to find better opportunities at an honest brokerage.
- That, other brokers, lenders, and mortgage branding businesses would see the validity of our allegations, and the lack of defence offered by Verico the Mortgage Station, Verico Financial Group Inc. and HomeEquity Bank, and that they would use social media and industry groups to share our fully supported and uncontested content for their own benefit.
- That, former employees from all three companies would find our fully supported allegations and reach out offering interviews and raw data about Verico the Mortgage Station, Verico Financial Group Inc. and HomeEquity Bank that we could use to learn more about all three corporations.
- That, ultimately, Verico the Mortgage Station would experience severe financial distress, that they could have avoided simply by defending their actions and refuting our allegations by presenting tangible evidence, if they have any, but they refused for more than two years to address the illegality and ethical abuses of their actions.
- That, due to the public perception of unethical and illegal actions taken to 'motivate' the South Simcoe Police Service to omit key evidence and to falsify figures, and for Councillors of Simcoe County to turn a blind eye to their legal and ethical breaches of trust, that was never supported by an application for an injunction to stop our reporting, Verico the Mortgage Station, Verico Financial Group Inc. and HomeEquity Bank are persona non grata to those officials as the videos and evidence have been online for more than a year, and have been viewed by more taxpayers and voters than anybody thought would happen.
- That, due mostly to the assistance of an unidentified expert in search engine optimization, our reports and videos are ranking consistently high on Google and the other search engines, to such a point that we now have visitors from across Canada, and in the US, visiting our website and then writing to let us know that our reporting caused them to not do business with Verico the Mortgage Station, Verico Financial Group Inc. and/or HomeEquity Bank.
- That, it is due primarily to our fact-based, fully supported reports and videos, which David Flude admitted from anonymity ten months ago were causing considerable damage to the continued viability of his brokerage, that we have been successful in warning thousands of potential clients for Verico the Mortgage Station, Verico Financial Group Inc. and HomeEquity Bank to instead chose to do business with alternative ethical service providers.
- That, with the doors apparently closing, the brokers of Verico the Mortgage Station, who have refused to take responsibility for defrauding their senior and veteran clientele, are less likely to be trusted again or put in a position where they will be able to continue defrauding their especially vulnerable clients through usury, or loan sharking, or by any other means.
- That, continued exposure of this story, both before and after the release of our expose documentary, will help to ensure that tens, if not hundreds, of thousands of potentially vulnerable seniors will have access to the truth, and will choose to avoid doing business with the brokers who move on from the metaphoric ashes of Verico the Mortgage Station, and also Verico Financial Group Inc. and HomeEquity Bank.
The brokers, the branders, and the bankers underestimated the power of the court of public opinion, but as they each choose to continue to hide, it is obvious they have not learned their lesson and will not likely change.
