Why is the HomeEquity Bank, an asset of the Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan (OTPP), valued at more than $247.5B, working with loan shark mortgage brokers who prey on seniors and veterans, while draining the resources of local charities, and why are they afraid to challenge the evidence and allegations of a small not-for-profit?

Simcoe County Council Showing "Zero F#Cks Given"About Local Loan Sharks Defrauding Seniors

Many in Simcoe County now know our story about how detectives of the South Simcoe Police Service omitted evidence and figures through deliberately inaccurate calculations to ensure that the wealthy and well-connected brokers of Verico the Mortgage Station were not charged with committing the criminal act of usury, or loan sharking, against potentially vulnerable seniors. Details can be found at https://www.fivepointsmedia.ca/south-simcoe-police-service-now-omitting-and-falsifying-evidence-to-protect-loan-sharks.html

Earlier this month, our producer, a former international journalist and technical support specialist for private investigations, replied directly to the detective's deception, and when doing so he copied every member of Simcoe County Council to the email. His hope was that maybe just one of the supposedly honourable members of our municipal government might want to know some details about what is motivating the detectives and top brass of the South Simcoe Police Service to go to such lengths to help these influential hucksters commit fraud against seniors. So far, crickets.

You would think that those who sought election for public office, who take an oath to serve ALL of their constituents, might be a little bit concerned about the financial safety and security of our local seniors. Apparently, we were mistaken, as their glaringly obvious lack of concern and "no f#cks given"attitude would suggest that to them, those who built this community are merely Simcoe County's Second Class Senior Citizens.

Content of the video

Why are the South Simcoe Police Service and Simcoe County Council knowingly helping local loan sharks to steal from seniors? What could be motivating them to turn a blind eye to the obvious criminal activity being committed by the brokers of Verico the Mortgage Station, who just happen to boast annual sales of between five and six million dollars a year? If you doubt this is true, consider that we have been reporting on this story since June 18, 2022, and nobody has tried to silence us through court action, nor even sent us an angry letter from a lawyer. The reason for that is we have the evidence to back up our allegations, which we are openly sharing with the public.

Our reports about usury or loan sharking, as committed against senior clientele by the brokers of Verico the Mortgage Station, have now grown to become a fully funded documentary produced for broadcast television and media streaming services. Through this expose, we will reveal the dark underbelly of Simcoe County and show how the laws that govern those who pay the bills do not always apply to the wealthy and politically connected. If you are a taxpayer in Simcoe County, the findings of our investigative journalism should be of interest to you.

When we think about political corruption, and abuse of taxpayer entrusted authority, we usually focus on the provincial and federal levels of power. That is after all, where we have been trained to focus our attention, as the confrontations between those polarized political parties represent much greater interest to mainstream media, who then use the contrived conflict to generate ratings to sell advertising.

However, it is at the municipal or county level where the bulk of the decisions are made that will most directly affect the lives of Canadian families and individuals. It is also at that level where corruption is less often exposed, because fewer eyes are watching the game of three card monte that is the interaction between big business, local politicians, and regional police. The main observer, corporate mainstream media, choose to ignore much of the sleight of hand, as they rely on all three players for access, and for income through advertising.

Corruption, in the form of bribery, at the municipal or county level, has been exposed multiple times. However, the equally illegal game of politics for profit is more often committed through a much harder to expose exchange of favours. Look no further than the recently exposed trade-off between the Provincial Conservatives and property developers wanting to carve up the green belt. It seldom comes as a surprise when criminal abuses of trust perpetrated through this kind of quid pro quo result in publicly funded contracts being awarded to friends of elected officials, and certain crimes are ignored or dismissed by local police because the perpetrators are wealthy and have influence within council.

All people are supposed to be equal under the law, but that is clearly not reality when looking into the protective actions of the South Simcoe Police Service regarding the crimes committed by the brokers of Verico the Mortgage Station. It is also highly suspicious as to why none of the members of Simcoe County Council have stepped up and called for further investigation based on the evidence that we have freely provided to the investigating detective. These tactics of deflection and denial establish a two-tiered legal system in which tax-paying citizens of Simcoe County are held accountable under the law, but the wealthy and politically connected are free to carry on business as usual when committing crimes like usury, or loan sharking.

It is for this reason that we are now investigating why the various mayors and other officials who sit as members of Simcoe County Council chose to turn a collective blind eye to the financial crimes of the brokers of Verico the Mortgage Station, and to completely ignore the clear and present danger to the financial security of local seniors.

Are these elected officials not answerable to all the electorate? Do they not take an oath of public service before moving into their publicly financed offices? Are they not accountable for all matters within Simcoe County? Perhaps, they saw no need to reply, or to take any action, as most seniors don't vote. So, who cares if the very people who built this county are defrauded of their life's savings by loan sharks working as mortgage brokers?

If you are a resident of Simcoe County, and you are not one of the uber-wealthy, you owe it to yourself to learn through this video how your county taxes are being used by top brass of the South Simcoe Police Service, and apparently members of Simcoe County Council, to protect loan sharks who defraud seniors, and likely families who make the mistake of going to the brokers of Verico the Mortgage Station for financing the purchase of their home.

Renee Dadswell, a broker at Verico the Mortgage Station, committed the indictable offence of usury, also known as loan sharking, with the assistance of her colleagues David Flude and Lisa Purchase.

These allegations are fully supported by more than enough empirical evidence to obtain a conviction. At least that would be true if the official financial documentation and the facts as laid out in the timeline were analyzed by a truly impartial investigator who is not part of the South Simcoe Police Service.

The evidence and events of this case show clearly that the detectives and top brass of the South Simcoe Police Service are being motivated to assist the wealthy brokers of Verico the Mortgage Station so they can avoid accountability. The decision by the South Simcoe Police Service to not pursue this criminal activity is quite obviously the result of influence peddling, and we will gladly testify to that fact and present the documentation that proves it in any court of law where evidence and facts are not so easily manipulated or omitted by personal self-interests.

That is why the brokers of Verico the Mortgage Station, who are reported to be claiming we are lying, have never taken us to civil court to try to silence us through a cease-and-desist order or other injunctive relief. It is also why the South Simcoe Police Service will now be the subject of an investigation by the Office of the Independent Police Review Director and the Ontario Provincial Police fraud and financial crimes division. Nobody has had the courage to take this matter before a judge, in any court of law, where evidence is all that matters, and you have to be curious why.

On September 8, 2023, our Producer, an internationally experienced journalist and former technical specialist for private investigations, replied to an email from Detective Constable Jason Muto of the South Simcoe Police Service, to which he carbon copied every member of Simcoe County Council. The purpose of the reply was to put on record that the detective was dismissing allegations of loan sharking against the brokers of Verico the Mortgage Station based on an unsupportable false claim of insufficient evidence.

That assertation by the detective was fully self-fulfilling, as he arbitrarily chose to omit the most relevant evidence of the crime, and he knowingly chose to use the wrong formula in order to exonerate the wealthy brokers. Even after he was advised of his supposed mistake, Detective Muto chose to calculate percentage extrapolated over a year rather than the interest rate that was charged over a specific time period of forty-six to forty-eight days, which are two very different things. Our Producer also linked the Councilors directly to the evidence, which was reviewed by the majority. We have the records to show all of this, so there is no possibility of them claiming plausible deniability.

For those who have not followed this story, we recommend that all taxpayers in Simcoe County, in their own best interests and those of their families, should watch that short video "South Simcoe Police Service Now Omitting and Falsifying Evidence to Protect Loan Sharks"which has now been seen by more than fifty thousand. https://www.fivepointsmedia.ca/south-simcoe-police-service-now-omitting-and-falsifying-evidence-to-protect-loan-sharks.html

So far, we have heard nothing in response from any members of Simcoe County Council, as apparently, they believe they can hide behind what they likely perceive to be plausible deniability.

It is also likely that some of the members of Simcoe County Council know David Flude, Renee Dadswell, or Lisa Purchase, the brokers of Verico the Mortgage Station, either through social or business connections. The population of Simcoe County is a little more than three hundred thousand people, and those of influence, be it financial or political, tend to frequent the same places and events.

Regardless, these elected officials have an obligation to the seniors living in Simcoe County as much as they do to anybody else, and their responsibilities include ensuring that seniors and others are not swindled through easily proven usury, or other illegal means of fraud. What they are doing through inaction is treating our elders like Simcoe County's Second-Class Senior Citizens.

It came as a surprise to exactly nobody when on September 7, 2023, Detective Jason Muto of the South Simcoe Police Service sent his email to our Producer to state the obvious, that we had predicted and reported a month earlier:

"I have completed a review of the report you filed with South Simcoe Police Service on June 23, 2022 - number PR22012118. Based on the information, provided by both you and Verico the Mortgage Station, there is insufficient evidence to proceed with charges."

This supposedly highly trained financial investigator was not willing to go so far as to state that the allegations were without merit, nor that the brokers at Verico the Mortgage Station had not committed the crime based on the evidence provided. Instead, he chose to fall back on a claim that there was insufficient evidence.

This excuse for injustice is common when police are forced to investigate cases involving wealthy and well-connected business owners who could provide benefit to their life and that of their family. Look no further than Donald Trump, who skated prosecution for five decades based solely on his manufactured status and fraudulent claims of great wealth. We like to think that justice is eventually served to the wealthy as it is to the poor. However, that is seldom the case, as those in power or who have influence can afford to buy their way out of accountability.

It is only when sufficient awareness is created that public concerns are addressed. Taking action eventually becomes the best or only path for the politicians, who want to be reelected and must show they did something before a competitor uses their obvious corruption against them. There will be no hiding from this story, as we are not going away and the brokers of Verico the Mortgage Station, the South Simcoe Police Service, and now the Simcoe County Council, must deal with our ongoing exposure of these clear criminal actions, which now also appear to include omission and obstruction. We are now reaching tens of thousands of mostly local people, most of whom need mortgages, and the lion's share of them vote.
